But God told Samuel, “Looks aren’t everything. Don’t be impressed with his looks and stature. I’ve already eliminated him. God judges persons differently than humans do. Men and women look at the face; God looks into the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7 The Message
It’s true isn’t it? We often judge people by how they look before we even know anything about them. We look at how they are dressed. What kind of hair style they have. Presence, or absence, of piercings, and tattoos.
We make judgements based on the exterior. But that isn’t how God operates. Fortunately. Just as God told the prophet Samuel, the man Samuel had picked out for king of Israel wasn’t the one God had chosen. God doesn’t measure our worth based on what we look like. It’s what’s inside our heart that matters to him.
Are we passionate for Christ? Do we desire God above all other persons or things? Are we willing to do what he asks of us? Those are the things God looks at.
Outward appearances don’t fool God. He knows what we’re really like.
I wish you well.

I am so terrible at this. I judge, judge, judge on outward appearances!! And I KNOW it’s wrong! Thanks for posting!

I do it too. I think most, if not all, of us have done it at least once. I try to always remind myself of this verse. God looks at the heart, and so should we.
