Sunday Scriptures — No Fear

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7 NIV

As a child, what frightened you the most? Monsters under the bed? Being lost? Speaking in front of the class? Taking that dreaded math, spelling, science, history test? Fill in your own scary thing. ___________________________

Whatever it was, somehow, you survived. Right?

As an adult, what frightens you the most? Being alone? Losing your job? Losing a loved one? Cancer? Dying? Again, fill in what frightens you. ________________________

The Spirit of God, his Shekinah Glory living in us, is power. It is our source of peace. There need be no fear. Whatever it is that frightens us, God is bigger. The creator who spoke the world into being is in control. He’s got our back. He’s on our side. He is sovereign. Nothing  touches us which he hasn’t either permitted, or planned.

When the scary stuff of life threatens to undo us, we need to reach out to Jesus, and grab hold of his hand. Stand firm on his promise to never leave or forsake us, and watch the monsters lose their power. When Jesus is present, the evil one must flee.

I wish you well.

Sandy
