But you, O Lord, are always my shield from danger; you give me victory and restore my courage. I call to the Lord for help, and from his sacred hill he answers me. I lie down and sleep, and all night long the Lord protects me. I am not afraid of the thousands of enemies who surround me on every side. Psalm 3:3-6 (GNT)
David was running for his life, literally, from King Saul and his army. While hiding in caves, David knew what to do. He called out to the LORD for help. This man on the run knew he could lie down and sleep all night long. Not because his men were on watch. Not because Saul had given up the chase. Not because David’s stronghold was impenetrable.
David was not afraid because he knew the LORD God, Almighty, would protect him.
It’s the same with us today. There are times we feel beset by enemies on every side. In those times, it would be wise to remember David, and do what he did. Cry out to the LORD. Sleep in peace. Because God is our protection.
I wish you well.
