Sunday Scriptures — Only a Fool

April Fool’s Day is not a day I’ve ever been overly fond of. Maybe that’s because I grew up with a clever, older brother.

Maybe it’s because I don’t like making others, or myself, look foolish.

Maybe it’s because I’m not devious enough to come up with anything prank-ish.

Maybe it’s because the Bible tells us not to call people fools.

As a teacher, April 1st meant heightened awareness of what my students were doing, or attempting to do. Being overly vigilant can be taxing.

When David wrote Psalm 53, he made it plain. The person who says there is no God…the person who denies there is only one True and Living God…denies the existence of a Creator of the Universe who knows us by name…that person, is a fool.

Maybe that’s the real April Fool, no matter what the calendar says.

What are your thoughts on the subject?

Only a fool would say to himself, “There is no God.” And why does he say it? Because of his wicked heart, his dark and evil deeds. His life is corroded with sin. Psalm 53:1 (TLB)

I wish you well.
