Don’t dwell on the past, God tells us. Don’t cling to what has already happened. We do that though, do we not? Whether it is something wonderful that occurred, or something dreadful. Sometimes it is difficult for us to let the past go. Difficult for us to move forward.
We don’t live in a time warp. Time is passing. I don’t have to look any further than my mirror to see that.
Each of us has painful things in our past. Each of us has been hurt by life. Each of us has times where we were treated unfairly. Does it really do any good to keep rehashing them?
All of us have things in our lives we’ve accomplished. There have been times when each of us has made our mommas proud. But should we be content to stop there?
Either way, God tells us not to cling to yesterday – good or bad – because he’s doing something new. Something mo’ better. Something we can look forward to with anticipation. He’s clearing a way through the rubble and making a nice road for us to travel down with streams of water to refresh us. Sounds good to me.
Whether our past leans heavy on the side of hurt or the side of joy, it won’t compare to the new thing God has in store for us. That’s something to boast about.

But the Lord says, “Do not cling to events of the past or dwell on what happened long ago. Watch for the new thing I am going to do. It is happening already—you can see it now! I will make a road through the wilderness and give you streams of water there. Isaiah 43:18-19 (GNT)
I wish you well.
