No Reason to be Alarmed

Last week our son, Pie, emailed to let me know Army Black Hawk helicopters with the 1st Air Cavalry Brigade from Fort Hood, Texas would land on Johnson Space Center property in about an hour.

The communique Pie received and forwarded stated, “There’s no need to be alarmed…”

Pilot, Pie, and I, along with countless others, stood in the 90 degree shadeless afternoon heat, stared into the sky, and awaited the helicopters arrival.

What a thrill it was to see those birds when they appeared on the horizon. Pilot spotted them first, but soon after he pointed them out others turned their cameras to the north.

The Black Hawks flew in perfect formation and landed with precision. As the crew secured the helicopters to the ground, we spectators waited for the signal to approach the three closest helicopters.

While wandering around, I noticed one of the helicopter pilots taking a picture of a JSC building behind me.

I offered to take a picture of him with the Saturn V building in the background and we struck up a very nice conversation. As we stood there talking, Pilot and Pie joined us.

After 30 minutes or so, the crowds dispersed, the 1st Air Cavalry Brigade personnel  loaded a bus for a tour of the Johnson Space Center facility and Pilot, Pie and I headed our different directions.

Staring into the sky and waiting for the Black Hawks to land got me thinking about a future event.

An event that will have people’s eyes fixed on the sky.

The day the One True King, Jesus Christ, returns to earth.

On that day the book of Matthew tells us people will be going about their everyday business. No one except God knows the hour of Christ’s return. But when Jesus does return, every eye will see him. A trumpet blast will announce his arrival.

We won’t need anyone to point him out. And there definitely will be no reason to be alarmed if we belong to Jesus and claim him as our Lord and Savior.

We shall behold Him one day. And at the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow in heaven, on earth, and under the earth.

For He is LORD and is coming from the clouds to take us home.

Our time talking with Jesus won’t end after 30 minutes, or even an hour. We’ll have all eternity to talk and tour heaven.

Won’t that be grand?

I’d love to hear your thoughts on the subject. Leave a comment below. If you think others would appreciate reading this please share it through the social media buttons.

“And then at last the signal of my coming will appear in the heavens, and there will be deep mourning all around the earth. And the nations of the world will see me arrive in the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. And I shall send forth my angels with the sound of a mighty trumpet blast, and they shall gather my chosen ones from the farthest ends of the earth and heaven.” Matthew 24:30-31 (TLB)

I wish you well.
