I Pledge Allegiance

Yesterday here in the United States of America we celebrated our declaration of independence from colonial rule way back in 1776. Our flag, like many country’s flags, contains the colors red, white and blue.

As I thought about what it means to declare independence from tyrants and pledge allegiance to truth, I focused on the colors red, white, and blue. I considered the independence Christians have from Satan through the power of the blood of the Resurrected Savior, Jesus Christ our Lord. And I came up with several thoughts.

Red is the color of Christ’s blood that was shed on the cross of Calvary.courtesy pixabay

Blue is the color of the bruises that covered his tortured body.

White is the color of our sins which have been washed white as snow.

Red. White. And Blue.

Though we may pledge allegiance to a country, our true and utmost allegiance belongs to The Lamb of God who took away the sins of the world through his sacrifice on the cross.

Because of this, God lifted Jesus high above everything else. He gave Him a name that is greater than any other name. So when the name of Jesus is spoken, everyone in heaven and on earth and under the earth will bow down before Him. And every tongue will say Jesus Christ is Lord. Everyone will give honor to God the Father. Philippians 2:9-11 (NCV)

I wish you well.
