What kind of example are we? Christians are called to a higher standard than the world. We are called to set a Christ-like example because we are in the world and not of it.

That means we resist the temptation to respond to situations and events when those around us respond with hatred and malice. That means we consider the impact of what we say and how we represent ourselves as Christians to those in the world who are watching us. That means we do all we can to be good representatives of the Savior who died for us.

That means we show the love of Christ to others by being a servant instead of expecting to be served. That means we are courteous and treat others with respect even if they are disagreeable. That means we are quick to forgive and slow to hold onto our anger.

As Christians, our job is not to judge others. That’s God’s job. We are called to build each other up, not tear each other to shreds. We are to be encouragers and pray for one another.

God wants us to be his ambassadors to bring others to a close relationship with him. We are to reflect Jesus in our words and actions. We are to conduct ourselves admirably because we represent the King of kings and Lord of lords.

Is it always easy? Absolutely not. Are you kidding me? I fall short way too often.

Satan works hard to remind us of all the times we’ve tried and failed to be who God created us to be. It’s during those times, I believe, we must keep our eyes on Jesus and rely on the Holy Spirit’s power to shut our ears to the deceiver’s lies.

Easy or not, we are called to be an example of light to a world that is in darkness. So I ask again, what kind of example are we?
