The Beauty of Your Presence

by Shirley Specht Johnson

Listening to the quiet,

The whispers of the soul.

The beauty of your presence,

As the day unfolds.

Dew drops speak refreshing,

Songbirds lift their praise.

Flowers reach in faith,

Sun hugs morning with its rays.

The beauty of your presence,

As the day unfolds.

Listening to the quiet,

As you whisper to the soul.

Pause for Poetry — Love Notes

Welcome to Pause for Poetry featuring a poem written by my writer-friend, Shirley Specht Johnson.

Love Notes
By Shirley Specht Johnson

Love’s words are spoken in peaceful ways,

Love walks in kindness through its day.

Love discerns along the way,

in solitude, there Love prays.

Love sustains the wounded soul,

when others say just let go.

Love forgives those that broke its heart,

Love is willing to make a new start.

Love dresses not in trendy styles,

but clothes itself with grace.

Love appears in moments in an ordinary place.

Love helps with homework, tends to the sick, runs to the grocery store.

Love goes to work, pays the bills, and Love does so much more.

Love perseveres, is confident and is assured,

Love never whispers an unprofitable word.

Love listens to understand, encourages along the way,

Love celebrates with others the joy of their day.

Love walks in wisdom, never acts foolishly,

Love seeks no profit, it seeks no victory.

Love embraces goodness, holds to what is true,

Love can change a circumstance, Love can make things new.

1 Corinthians 13:13 (AMP) …….but the greatest of these is love.

Pause for Poetry – On That Day

Welcome to Pause for Poetry featuring a poem written by my writer-friend, Shirley Specht Johnson.

On That Day
by Shirley Specht Johnson

With a broken heart, HE died for thee.

All His love upon that tree.

Never knowing the debt he paid,

on that dark and lonely day.

Sin and sickness of every soul.

What great love did he hold?

People grieved, people mourned.

The sun was darkened; the veil was torn.

But then,

on another day.

They found the stone was rolled away.

He rose from death in that tomb,

knowing souls before their mother’s womb

He walked with grace, He saw with love,

He spoke of hope from above.

He left a word “Do not grieve.”

“I’ll send you comfort.” “Just believe.”

So, walk with grace, see with love,

Speak of hope from above.

For on that day He died for thee,

He died for all humanity.

Pause for Poetry – Through Faith’s Eyes

Welcome to Pause for Poetry featuring a poem written by my writer-friend, Shirley Specht Johnson.

Through Faith’s Eyes

by Shirley Specht Johnson

Through faith’s eyes
I see you standing
at an altar of prayer
Tears are gently flowing,
God’s mercy is very clear.
Nothing can impair the vision that I see
I embrace the promises given to me.
Through faith’s eyes
I see you holding
to the Savior’s hands.
I understand the purpose.
I understand the plan.
I embrace the promises
And the words He speaks to me.
When I look at you.
Know,
That it is through faith’s eyes I see.

Pause for Poetry — Love Letters

Welcome to Pause for Poetry featuring a poem written by my writer-friend, Shirley Specht Johnson.

Love Letters
by Shirley Specht Johnson

Reading those love letters from long long ago
without understanding how the depths of love goes.

A young heart quick to take flight,
eyes without vision, eyes without sight

Then came the day the steps were no longer light,
Then came the day there was fog, there was night.

The days of hunger, You were there to feed.
The days of hunger You supplied the need.

The days of thirst You quenched my soul.
The days of thirst, You never let go.

The days of heartache You removed despair.
The days of heartache You embraced with care.

The days of abandonment You remained a strong friend,
The days of abandonment, You revealed beginning, not end.

Oh, that young heart quick to take flight
eyes without vision, eyes without sight.

You rooted, grounded, anchored it so,
Oh this Love, this Love I now know

Let others find Your Love Letters
through the life I lead.
Let my life be the Letters
You want them to read.

Reading those Love Letters from long long ago,
now understanding how the depths of love goes.
