Daniel was among those taken into Babylonian captivity under King Nebuchadnezzar in the 6th Century B.C. Many of us remember Daniel as the man thrown into the lion’s den because he refused to bow to anyone other than Yahweh Jehovah God.
While that event in Daniel’s life is indeed monumental, and the fact he lived to tell about it a true miracle of God, there is another time in Daniel’s life I draw strength from. A time when he prayed to God, acknowledged the turning away from God by his people, and asked for God’s favor to rest on them again and restore them to their land.
That is the event I’d like to focus on today because while I’ve never been thrown into a lion’s den, and pray I never am, there are times I’ve waited, like Daniel, for answers to my prayers and needed the reminder God had not forgotten me.
Perhaps you do as well.
Maybe you are in the midst of struggling to wait for God’s timing and his perfect answer to your petition. Whether it be Yes, No, or Wait.
Regardless, we can find comfort in the fact God loves us very much and cares about what happens to us.
We can also find comfort in the fact God knows. He understands. He responds.
What gives you comfort as you wait on God to answer your prayers?

I was speaking and praying, and telling the Lord my sin and the sin of my people Israel. I was asking the Lord my God to show favor to His holy mountain. And while I was still praying, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen before in the dream, flew to me in a hurry at about the time when the evening gift is given in worship. He talked to me and told me things, saying, “O Daniel, I have now come to give you wisdom and understanding. As soon as you began to pray, an answer was given, which I have come to tell you. For you are loved very much. So listen to what I say and understand the special dream. Daniel 9:20-23 (NLV)
I wish you well.
